The Big Attendance Drive

We all know how important good attendance is at school.  In fact a recent survey showed that students in England with attendance above 95% gained an average 9 GCSE higher grade passes.  Those who were below 95% gained 4 higher grade passes – a huge difference I am sure you will agree.

So here at Redbridge we have decided to encourage all students to improve their attendance.  We have introduced several initiatives to reward students who improve, or maintain good attendance.

Each week we have a tutor competition. The tutor group with the highest attendance receives muffins for breakfast.  This is a closely fought competition with lots of tutor groups winning the muffins.

Every half term we hold a raffle.  Each week that a student has 100% attendance they get an entry into the raffle.  The more entries they earn the greater their chance of winning.  The prizes are West Quay vouchers which have proved very popular with students.

Students in Years 10 and 11 also have their attendance reset each term.  If they can keep it above 95% they are rewarded with a cinema afternoon.  They get to choose the film as well as enjoying lots of popcorn and other treats.

Most recently we challenged students to improve their attendance by 2% and those that achieved this were rewarded with a fantastic falconry display on the school field.

We aim for Redbridge to have the best attendance in the City and greatly appreciate all the fantastic support from parents for helping us do this.
